As the England matches get underway, many of us will be enjoying the excitement of the games with friends and family.
However, national campaigns and housing providers are also using this time to raise awareness that for some people, major football tournaments can be a difficult and worrying period.
Research has shown that incidents of domestic abuse can increase around major matches. While football itself does not cause abuse, heightened emotions, alcohol consumption and existing behaviours can mean that situations escalate.
