We understand that times are tough. Here are answers to some common questions about this year’s rent changes.
1. Why is my rent increasing?
Unfortunately, we must increase rents this year. Like many organisations, we are facing significant rises in everyday costs.
We are committed to keeping your home safe and well-maintained, which means increasing investment in property safety and housing services. We’ve worked hard to minimise the impact, but this decision helps ensure we can continue providing high-quality homes and support.
2. How is my new rent calculated?
Social rents are set by Government legislation, and increases follow guidelines from the Regulator of Social Housing.
Rents can rise by a maximum of 1% above the Consumer Price Index (CPI) each year. The CPI for September 2024 was 1.7%, meaning rents will increase by 2.7% from 7 April 2025.
3. Do I need to update my Direct Debit?
No, you don’t need to do anything if you pay by direct debit.
Your rent will automatically update from your April 2025 payment. We’ll confirm the new amount in writing at least 10 working days before the change takes effect.
4. Can I pay through my Housing Solutions online account?
Yes! Paying online is quick, secure, and available anytime. Simply log into your customer portal here to access your account.
5. Where can I get advice on rent payments?
