On Wednesday 1st May we held the official opening of the new Brill House in Cox Green. The redevelopment of the former residential home for over 55's has been a culmination of five years work between Housing Solutions, The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Katherine Allen Architects and Feltham Construction. The Scheme was officially opened by Jeff and Margaret Brill whose family kindly gifted the land that the scheme sits on and Brill Green to the people of Cox Green over 50 years ago. Jeff and Margaret were joined by their son, Roger and Daughter-in-law Jane and their Granddaughter, Katy.
The new development comprises of of seven houses, two of which will be for shared ownership, and the remainder for social rent. There will also be a two-storey block which contains six flats on the ground floor and a further five on the top, also for social rent. Residents of the current Mokattam Care Home will occupy part of the refurbished block.
Housing Solutions Chief Executive, Orla Gallagher said:
“It is wonderful to welcome three generations of the Brill family back to Cox Green to officially open Brill House. The scheme is a fantastic legacy which their family gave to the local people of Cox Green over 50 years ago. Housing Solutions core value is to provide good quality affordable homes that people are proud to live in and Brill House is a fabulous example of our work in the local community. We are immensely proud of the bespoke scheme we have created, which has been sympathetically designed to sit well in its village surroundings and we hope the new residents are incredibly happy with their new homes.”
