The Housing Solutions Board were delighted, following the relaxations of restrictions, for the majority of members to meet in person once again on 28th July.

It was a full agenda, and they started their meeting by discussing the draft financial statements and annual report.  Each year Housing Solutions are required to report against the organisation’s compliance with the Governance and Viability and Consumer regulatory standards.  The Board received detailed reports and were satisfied that the organisation demonstrates compliance with the standards as required by the Regulator of Social Housing.

The Board also received a report on the effectiveness of the Audit and Risk Committee and were pleased to acknowledge that it is an effective and well-run committee.  In addition, a detailed governance report was presented by the Director of Corporate Services, Carol Lovell and the Board approved the Modern Slavery Statement for publication.

An Operations Report was received from Steve Brookfield the Director of Housing and Asset Management.  Following this presentation, Chris Martin, the Head of Development joined the meeting to report on some of the new development initiatives.

The Board also discussed and approved several policies including the repairs and maintenance policy, and the shared ownership sales, re-sales and allocations policy.

This meeting marked the last Board meeting for Jill Caress, Director of Developments as she will be retiring from Housing Solutions following 15 years of service.  The Board praised Jill for the significant contribution she has made during her time with Housing Solutions.  She has overseen the completion of 2,611 homes and helped over 8,500 people into their homes.  The Chairman was pleased to present Jill with a bouquet on behalf of the Board.

The next meeting is scheduled for 17 November 2021.
