This on-line Mutual Exchange Register is for residents who want to exchange homes with other residents within the Association. Any resident can go onto the register. Housing Solutions operate a ‘plus one’ policy, which means that residents can under occupy by having one bedroom more than they need by exchanging properties.
When you have found a property that you would like to consider an exchange with you should contact the resident directly to discuss whether they would be interested in a mutual exchange. Once you have agreed upon a mutual exchange you must contact your Tenancy and Neighbourhood Officer who will guide you through the process. We will not unreasonably withhold consent for an exchange. However, possible grounds for refusal could be:
- Rent arrears on either of the properties being exchanged
- Legal action being taken against either resident as a result of a breach of their tenancy
- If one of the property's has been inspected and felt to be in an unsatisfactory condition

Performing a Search
You can search for a property in two ways:
- By road name – type a name of a road into the search bar and press search. This will display all the properties that match your search.
- By number of bedrooms – select the button with the number of bedrooms you would like to receive in the exchange. This will display all the properties with the selected number of bedrooms.

You can search through the details of many other people who wish to exchange their home. You can also register your own details so that other people searching on the website can access them and get in touch if they are interested in swapping homes with you.
We have subscribed as a partner landlord with Homeswapper so it is free for you to register your details. The service will even match your details with others who may be suitable for you to swap with. Homeswapper can be used to exchange properties locally or anywhere in the country.
